Naehi Wong 1967-2022 of La Crescenta, California, transitioned with her beloved husband and partner of 38 years, Will, by her side.
Born in Korea to the late Eung Soo Chung and Mu Hyun Chung, Naehi moved to Los Angeles at the age of 7 with her family. Raised in Highland Park, she graduated from Franklin High School and earned a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Development and a Masters in School Administration from Cal State Los Angeles.
Naehi was devoted to education and taught kindergarten, second grade, and third grade in La Crescenta and Glendale, and developed the Korean dual immersion program for the Glendale Unified School District. Her work in diversity and multicultural inclusion lives on in similar programs in Chinese, Armenian, and other languages.
Naehi was devoted to her husband Will, whom she met in Chicago in 1984 while performing in a community concert. After a long-distance relationship conducted via pre-internet technology, Naehi and Will married in 1993 and settled in La Crescenta.
Besides her husband Will, Naehi leaves to mourn her loss sisters Nancy and Grace and brother Patrick, as well as a host of family, friends and innumerable students she has inspired over the years.
Naehi’s memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 22 at 11 AM at St Luke’s Episcopal Church, 2563 Foothill Blvd, La Crescenta, with burial to follow. Visiting hours will precede the service at the church from 9:30AM to 11 AM on the 22nd. Crippen Mortuary of La Crescenta is in charge of arrangements.
