Frank Joseph Madel Jr. of Valencia, California, passed away at 89 years old peacefully on September 16, 2020 in Newhall, California.
Frank Joseph Madel Jr. was born in Washington DC to Frank and Gertrude Madel on April 15, 1931. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp at the age of 20 and fought in the first Marines division during the Korean War from February of 1951 to February 1954 .
He was decorated with the following metals:
Good Conduct Medal.
National Defense Service Medal
Korean Service Medal with two stars.
United Nations Service Medal.
After returning from active duty he worked 32 years for Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO) before taking early retirement at the age of 55.
Frank Joseph Madel Jr. was a Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather he will be deeply missed by his three children: Frank Joseph Madel lll of Valencia, Ca., Beth Madel of Fresno, Ca. and Sherri Fox of Glen Burnie Md. He had seven grandchildren: Frank Madel V, Candice Madel, Kyle Madel, Wayne Fox, Todd Fox, Lenny Nuno and Steven Nuno. Also, Nieces and Nephews: Dawn Smallwood, Heather McNeill, Bobby Dolinger and Fred Dolinger.
He loved camping, swimming in the ocean, taking long walks, traveling, and driving from California to Ocean City, Maryland every summer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved eating seafood, especially the Maryland crabs. He also loved to dance and listen to country music.
Funeral and burial services with military honors will be held at Los Angeles National Veterans Cemetery, in Los Angeles, CA on October 19, 2020 at 11:00 am.
