Obituary of Kathryn Erin O'Sullivan
Kathryn Erin O’Sullivan of Tujunga passed away Nov. 2, 2017, in Malibu. She was 24 years old.
Kathryn attended St. James the Less Elementary School in La Crescenta, and Flintridge Sacred Heart High School, receiving a merit scholarship.
She later attended Sarah Lawrence College in New York.
She was an avid volleyball player, having played club volleyball, and was on the volleyball team at Sacred Heart High School. She led the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons Volleyball team to their first championship and was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
She was also an Academic Decathlete in high school and was an avid reader and writer.
She was a lover of classic and modern films. She had wonderful eclectic tastes in music. She loved animals.
Kathryn loved life and was full of love and curiosity for everything around her. She had a calling to help other people and was talking about having a career in counseling.She was incredibly smart and had a light in her eyes that revealed a spirit that was remarkable, passionate and loving. She was funny and lifted the spirits of everyone around her with her sense of humor. She was constantly entertaining family and friends and was a joy to be with. From an early age, there was a presence and brilliance about her that was unique and Kathryn made an impression on all who met her. From pre-school through college, she had many mentors who recognized her talents and nurtured her and guided her.
She was loved and admired by many people and she leaves a void that is hard to fathom. Her loss is greatly felt and we can only find consolation through faith that she is doing one of her funny dances in the company of angels.
She is survived by her father and mother, Patrick & Erin O’Sullivan, brothers Tommy and Chris O’Sullivan, grandmothers Terry O’Sullivan and Judy Ford, uncles Mike O’Sullivan and Patrick Ford, cousins Sean O’Sullivan and Anna Ford, aunts Xiaohong Lu, Mary Ford, and great Aunt Colleen Tutt.
She is also survived by her beloved pets, Scooby and Scrappy the dogs and Felix the cat.
The pain is immense. There are no easy answers.
She was destined for great things, and now she is in the hands of God.
The funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18th at 11:00am at St. James the Less Catholic Church, with a reception following. The address is:
