Obituary of Andrea Jeanne Kish
Please share a memory of Andrea to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Andrea Jeanne Kish was born on June 30, 1944. A
self-described Army brat lived all over including
Washington, Arkansas, Paris, Kansas, Los Angeles,
Pennsylvania and Hawaii.
Andrea met Bill at St. Bernard
High School in Los Angeles and let him pursue her;
proposing several times until they were married on
December 26, 1964. Through trials and tribulations,
a faithful marriage and a once in a lifetime love
produced three children (Steve, Jeanne and Ken) and
seven grandchildren (Nathan, Justin, Andrew,
Jessica, Dylan, Ryan and Megan).
Known as Andie to many that were close, she was
known for being someone who was gentle, loving and
soft-spoken. But when she spoke, people listened. We
all would go to her for advice. She was always the
voice of reason; our always loving, and true
North Star.
Andrea loved sewing, cooking, playing the piano,
singing with Voices of the Canyons, travelling and
above all reading. Mom took pride in sewing baby
blankets for all of her grandchildren and many of
her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed travelling with
her family several times to Alaska, Scotland; and to
Greece, Italy, and Panama. Working for the L.A.
County Library system seemed like a perfect match
for Andie. She was there for 32 years, ending her
career as the Assistant Regional Library Manager for
Los Angeles. She instilled a love of books and
reading with all of her children, grandchildren and
hundreds of people she came in contact with every
day.
We will all miss her terribly, but Andrea's
suffering is at an end. There is no more pain. She
is rejoicing with the Lord. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
