Obituary of John William Gieske

John William Gieske 11/08/1930 - 01/26/2015 John William Gieske 84, was born on Nov. 8, 1930 in San Francisco, CA. He went to school at Verdugo Hills High School, afterwards he signed up for The National Guard. His unit was ordered to Korea with a stay in Japan as well. Following his duty in the Army he worked in several businesses in the Los Angeles area; Cooking, Baking, and/or managing restaurants. A long time resident of La Crescenta, while managing one of Bob's Big Boy restaurants he met his wife Janice Herrick, whom he was happily married to until her passing in May of 2013. They had three children: Steven Chester Gieske(Louise), William John Gieske (Died within one month of birth) and William James Gieske. He is further survived by his sister Rose-Marlene Gieske, two grandchildren Kristalyn Schroeder and Rebecca Peluffe as well as a great grandchild Stephany Schroeder. He happily spent his days following his sons (and then later his grandchildren's) sports efforts, as well as watching many sports programs on television. His happiest moments were spent with family and friends at home. Friends were always welcome. He is to be cremated as per his wishes.
