Thank you for loving my sister. Thank you showing me your true side when we came to visit in August. Charming, animated, and full of life while still in so much pain you made us feel comfortable. Thank you for A.J. our special gift from God that you shared with us. I know you had strength to endure all the battles put before you. A true soldier to the end. And leaving Fran that silent little message on your face when you passed so she would know you are okay. I can only imagine what its like where you are but I'm sure you are preparing a safe place for Fran to meet you when the time comes.

Artie you were a shining light in the Army for me, always showing me the funny side of everything, even the truly awful. You made me laugh and keep going when I just wanted to give up and cry. I will always remember you and miss you, and hope you are somewhere making others laugh. I am so glad I saw you and spoke to you so recently, and I will miss our monthly lunches and our trips to the casino.
To Fran - thank you for making Art so happy and for being such a good mom to AJ - you truly completed Art and always made me feel like family.
I am proud to say Art was my friend - and my buddy.

Art, it was quite a shock to hear of your demise. The last time I spoke to you, you sounded in good spirits and said you were in remission and were taking a trip to Las Vegas. That was quite some time ago, time as its way of slipping by!
Art you will always be remembered by those who knew you. You were always a good friend to me, always had the time to talk to me in my troubled times, you were a great comfort to me. I will remember you as I saw you the last time with Frannie in Morro Bay!
You are at peace now, no more suffering.
May the Lord bless your soul!
Your friend Sue!

Art we will miss you. You were truly a good soul! You were serious when required and then able to make a nun blush and smile at the same time. Thanks for all the smiles, laughs and a now a few tears. It was a true honor to have met and loved you.

I recollect Art from my second ITAAS tour in 1988 as the Director of Operations (DOOP). To say that he was "one of a kind" is an understatement. I also recall that he was very dedicated to ITAAS and to the students. On duty the consumate professional, off duty truly a joy to be around.
I want to exend my sincere codolences to his family.
Sincerely,
John Bormolini

Art, we came down to be with Frannie after your passing last week. My job was to convert your home movies to DVD's. What I got was a crash course on how to be a Great Dad. Video after video of AJ growing up in Karate, Scouting, Choir events and many family celebrations. You did a good job raising your son and I know you were proud of the man that he became and is. I'm going to miss our visits and discussions of old movies and the inside dope that you always shared about the actors.
Some people thought you were tough and hard, but I always found you to be a soft at heart man with great caring and compassion; and willing to share your opinion ;-)
I want to thank you for your service to the city of Los Angeles and to the United States of America.

Art- There is a special place for Chiefs, in heaven. You have accomplished much, overcome a great deal and served honorably. Thank you for your service. I remember your sense of humor and inclusiveness when I was at 6th ITAAS. Thanks so much. The world was better off with you around and we will feel your loss. Take care, Chief!

Art was a member of The American Legion. The preamble to their constitution is on the membership card he carried. I think it's a good representation of what Art stood for. It reads as follows...
"To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain law and order; to foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism; to preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in the Great Wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses; to make right the master of might; to promote peace and good will on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness."
